Planning Help

If you think you will be helped or rescued as soon as you would like after a hurricane or many of the other types of disasters that could happen,  think about some of these recent hurricanes - Charlie, Francis, Jeanne and Katrina.  Years later, people are still trying to put their lives back in order.  At best, emergency responders need time to react.  In Florida, the rule of thumb is to have at least 3 days of supplies for each person given no utilities or all the rest of things we take for granted.  The best emergency responder is you!

Homeland Security has a Ready America website that provides a wealth of information you can download or order for free.  Their approach involves 3 activities.  Click on the headings below to go get more information.

Get a Kit

You can compare their list of items that should be in your kit with the ones you can get on the Safety Kits page that's just one click away on our menu.  Contact us if you need something you don't see on our website and we'll make every effort to help you.

Make a Plan

When you make a plan you also need to make sure you think outside or you immediate home and family.  Do you know what the emergency plan is where you children go to school?  How prepared for emergencies are day care centers, senior care centers, pet care providers, apartment complexes, neighborhoods, local police, etc.?  If they are prepared, do you know what those plans are so that you are ready to jump into action when you will be needed most?

Be Informed

There are so many things that can happen that can turn into an emergency situation.  Have you thought about how some of the businesses in your area might bring about a potential emergency situation?  We live in a world that can reach out and touch just about anywhere.  How can you stay in touch with what is happening?
